Foster Intake & Placement
Spirit of Hope Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, non-profit dog rescue that works with more than 30 First Nations communities in Manitoba.
SOHR was founded on January 30th, 2012 by Cathie Mieyette as a promise to herself, that if she was to survive what was then a lifesaving stem cell transplant, she would start a rescue to help First Nations communities address the overpopulation of dogs. Cathie is a 4-time cancer survivor and the Director of Spirit of Hope Rescue.
SOHR has rescued over 2000 dogs in the last 5 years. In 2016, 544 dogs came into rescue and 498 were adopted! We have up to 90 dogs in foster care at any given time! And we average almost 50 adoptions per month!
